OUR TEAM

Cindy Bell
Cindy is a partner/owner of Pedal Spin Studio Montrose. A Kansas native and Midwestern girl at heart, she has spent the last 8 years in the advertising industry only to discover that life behind a desk was not doing anything for her backside. Her sister-in-law and partner Michelle (Go Pedal Rancho!!) dragged her to her first spin class where she fell in love (well…she threw up…then fell in love) with indoor cycling. It is a workout she truly believes in, not only for the physical benefits, but also the mind clearing, stress reducing endorphin rush you get once you start pumping the pedals and loosing yourself in the music. Cindy’s playlists include a little something from everyone from Tina Turner to Tom Jones, from Fall Out Boy to Seal. Her vision was to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, confident and strong. Nothing pumps her up more than seeing new riders come in, hesitant at first, and leave glowing with pride and accomplishment. She is truly glad you came!

Michelle Bell
Hi! I’m Michelle Bell, the partner/owner of Pedal. You will find me boucing back and forth between our Rancho Cucamonga and Claremont studios that I manage everyday. Originally from Chicago (GO CUBS!), I moved out here from the windy city with many goals in tow. Before SPINNING took over my life, I moved out here to pursue a music career, continue my work in the fashion/film industry as a makeup artist and a licensed esthetician for 14 years AND most recently became a certified SPIN instructor when we opened opened our 1st PEDAL studio!! I LOVE meeting new people and seeing familiar faces. I started SPINNING 10 years ago to drop 25 lbs and I quickly became a SPIN-ADDICT craving the high intensity of a SPIN class and the energy it always delivered. So, my sis-in-law Cindy and I decided to open PEDAL simply because we could never get a bike at the gym and we both LOVE to SPIN! My goal is to always create an inviting environment where everyone feels welcome and accepted no matter what fitness level they are at, and one that brings the community together! I am constantly amazed and inspired by the people that walk into PEDAL everyday and I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to get to know each and every person. I love teaching interval rides with fun music (lots of Hip Hop, Pop and everything in between) that is guaranteed to get you groovin’ and moving! Come join me for a SPIN, be ready to work it and have some fun along the way! Email me at michelle@pedalspinstudio.com with any music/class requests!! See YOU on the bike…

He plays a mix of classic rock, indie rock, and hip hop to add intensity to each ride. He is also a certified TRX suspension training instructor and is rider on the 2010 and 2011 Pablove Across America Team, which raises money and awareness for pediatric cancer.

Nicole AbranianNicole Abranian
I was born and raised just a few minutes from Montrose, and being a fitness enthusiast, I was absolutely delighted when Pedal Spin opened its doors. I was inspired by the great energy of the teachers at Pedal and I enjoyed my classes so much that I decided to get certified to become an instructor myself. I believe a great workout is as much about the mind as it is the body. Spinning is not only an awesome physical workout, but a great way to clear your mind and relieve your body of stress. My music is a variety of up-tempo, fun beats to
really get you motivated to ride hard! My goal is for you to have a great workout and have fun while doing it! When I asked a friend what to write on my bio she said, “I love spinning, dogs & coffee. If I’m not at Pedal Spin I’m probably with my dogs having coffee.

Shirin Beckett
A cool studio in Claremont Village and an opportunity to spend many hours spinning with you; life could not get any better!! I am Shirin Beckett! For years, running was my number one outlet and athletic passion. On one occasion while resting a sore knee after a particularly grueling Marathon , I tried a spin class, and the rest as they say is history, “I was hooked”! I have been spinning for about 8 years. While I still run and swim every day, I make sure I’m on the bike twice a day! Spinning is so important to me that I became certified with “Maddogg” a number of years ago, not to teach, but to perfect my own rides! My classes give me the opportunity to share my love and enthusiasm for this amazing group exercise, and help you enjoy a hard workout. My goal is to help you reach your goal for the hour. I pay attention to your form, your energy, and your safety on the bike. If you are not set up correctly on the bike, I’m not able to do my job correctly, and guide you through an efficient ride. My music is planned for each segment of the ride to energize and excite. I guarantee that if you do your best to stay with the pace, you will leave feeling like a million bucks! I’m looking forward to seeing you at our amazing PEDAL’s new location in the beautiful Claremont!

Ericka BEricka Bettge
My name is Ericka Bettge and I was born and raised in Southern California. A fitness enthusiast, I fell in love with spin after taking my first class in 2009. In addition to being spin certified through Mad Dogg Athletics, I hold a personal training certification through NCSF and am studying to become a marriage and family therapist. My other interests include: recreational and competitive cycling, running, random dance parties in my apartment, and collecting tattoos. I’m a colorful person (literally and figuratively!) and bring this variety and spice to my classes. I believe there’s nothing greater than the rush of getting a good hard workout and look forward to seeing you soon! “Keep calm and ride on..”

Cindy BohlerCindy Bohler
Hi, my name is Cindy Bohler and I am thrilled to be a part of the Pedal Family. After spending the past six years spinning, running, and doing countless bootcamps I decided to get Madd Dog certified. Now my goal is to create classes that will challenge, strengthen, and motivate riders. I have found spinning to be more than just a physically challenging exercise, but also a mental challenge as well. “It’s cheaper than therapy I always say!!” It is an incredible feeling to set goals each day and accomplish more than you thought you were capable of. Lastly, my goal for you is to have you leave each class a little stronger, more accomplished and ready to face the day! See you there!”

Tonya Bray
A coach is someone who believes in you, shares your goals, kicks you in the pants when you need it and empowers you to be your best. I am your coach. And together we will reach your goals. I used Spinning beginning in 2000 as a new Professional mountain bike racer to take my riding to the next level. I competed in World Cups and Nationals for 5 years, won a 24 hour race solo, and continue to race marathon mountain bike races for my web site, mtbchick.com. I created mtbchick.com in order to empower people to be their best, and I am a weight loss coach, food as fuel coach, cycling coach and cycling skills instructor– and Spin instructor! I spend most of my time on the bike, however, when I am not on my bike, I am writing for the cycling magazines, drinking pretentious coffee, beer and wine, cooking gourmet sustainable meals with my significant other, throwing parties and gardening, hunting for mid-century modern treasures, selling art work and doing copious amounts of yoga. I believe in balance, beauty, bicycles and home grown basil for pesto. I look forward to being a part of your journey!

Kristal CalderasKristal Calderas
Hi! My name is Kristal Calderas! I’m a mom of 2 super busy, super fun little boys! They keep me moving, and sometimes make me a little crazy! To help me keep up with them I try and keep active, I’ve been practicing yoga for over 15 years, I’m an on and off again runner (more on lately), and I love to hike and camp, basically anything outdoors! I was introduced to Spinning in 2010 and was completely intimidated! But after my first class I was HOOKED! I started working at PEDAL RANCHO in early 2011 at the front desk, and the more classes I took the more I knew I had to get certified! And now I love, love, love what I do! In my classes I hope to challenge, inspire and motivate everyone! I always welcome music requests, hit me up at kristalmichelle@hotmail.com. I hope to see you soon!

Marguerite CampbellMarguerite Campbell

Marguerite is committed to making every rider feel a warm welcome at both Montrose and Pedal South Pasadena–where you’ll find her regularly Friday nights. No stranger to sitting in the hot seat of keeping the studio moving smoothly, Marg is now jumping on to the coach’s hot seat for a little extra fun!

Eric ColemanEric Coleman
After being rushed to the hospital via an ambulance, I realized that my lifestyle needed a change! My doctor informed me that I was Type 2 Diabetic with High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure. Since then, I have been dedicated to a more active lifestyle. I am a Certified Spinning Instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics and have been spinning for nearly 2 years. I have lost over 30 pounds, and the doctor has removed me from taking my Diabetes, Cholesterol, and Blood Pressure medications! All I can say, is that Spinning has helped me reach my fitness goals, and along the way inspire my family and friends. As a very passionate instructor, my class is full of energy with a lot of strength and interval rides. I look forward to riding with you at my next class!! Let’s inspire each other.

Orsi CrawfordOrsi Crawford
I’ve been spinning on and off for 15 years. When I started coming to Pedal Spin in Montrose, I fell in love with it all over again. Cindy Bell’s (owner) energy and the studio’s cool vibe, atmosphere and amazing staff totally inspired me to take it to the next level. I decided to get certified at Mad Dogg Athletics and teach so that I can help others reach their fitness goals and make them enjoy indoor cycling as much as I have. Hope to see you in my class soon!

Kimi ElgueaKimi Elguea
Dear Spinners: My name is Kimi Elguea and I was raised in La Canada, California. Spinning is the only exercise activity that has kept me as motivated and focused as playing softball. (I pitched for the Varsity Occidental College Softball team.) I was inspired to get my spinning certification out of respect to the awe-inspiring, really cool, and wonderfully welcoming Pedal Spin Studio instructors. It has been a great honor to join this strong and energetic team of trainers. My goal is to welcome each of you into this close-knit fitness community while simultaenously pushing you to reach your full fitness potential. I look forward to seeing each of you in my class spinning, dancing, and sweating to my mix of club-like music. Spinn-cerely, Kimi

Sarah FelbergSarah Felberg
I love working at PEDAL because of all the people! The instructors and all the clients who come in to SPIN are always so friendly and happy.  I think the exercise endorphins help!  I’m a licensed esthetician into skin care and taking good care of yourself.  Spinning at PEDAL is another great way to look and feel great.  The Spinning and Zumba are so much fun!

Leslie FieldLeslie Field
Hi there! I’m Leslie Field, and I’ve been teaching spin for a little over a year now. I’m an ACE and YMCA-fit certified Group Fitness Instructor and hold other certifications including Mad Dogg Spinning, Keiser Cycle, Zumba, Speedo Aqua, Pre/Post Natal. My transition from leisurely exerciser to group fitness instructor happened slowly over the years. I was the typical on and off exerciser where fitness was not a part of my daily, much less weekly life. When I tipped the scales 25 pounds heavier than I am now I was done accepting that I was going to get bigger and bigger as I got older; I knew I had to make a change and I did. It was a tough and dedicated climb to where I am now, so I know how hard the journey can be – but it’s so worth it to feel fit and healthy! I decided to move into the fitness industry and use my passion and enthusiasm (and fun music!) to get people moving. I aim to coach and motivate participants as much as I can throughout my class and I make sure we’re all on the same page by giving lots of teaching points. I believe that exercise should be a part of everyone’s daily life; doing something is always better than doing nothing! If I’m able to provide my participants with a safe and effective workout that they enjoyed then I know I’ve done a good job. I hope to see you soon!

Danielle Forlizzi
Hi, my name is Danielle, but you can call me Dani, and I am an exercise enthusiast. Four years ago I took my first spin class at the urging of a friend; I immediately fell in love with spin. I got certified to teach spin through Mad Dog Athletics with the hope of helping other people fall in love with spin too. I have a personality that is silly, quirky, energetic, encouraging, motivating, and is guaranteed to make you work up a sweat. My classes emphasize skill building, increasing strength and stamina, and maintaining proper form consistently throughout the work out. For those who are new to spin, do not be afraid to try it! It is an activity that people of all fitness levels can do, and I will help tailor your ride to fit your level. I am dedicated to helping my students reach their goals by using a positive attitude. You will leave my class feeling strong, energized, and capable. My spin classes are totally a good time! I want us to have a fun time as we work hard together. Oh, and as for my music…we mainly ride to indie rock and whatever random piece of music catches my fancy. You’ll get no techno-type music with me, but do expect music themed rides like Michael Jackson, 80′s, movies soundtracks, etc. Look forward to spinning with you soon!

Tammy Jackson
I started taking yoga in 1997 because I had a very bad back and somebody told me that Yoga would be the key to fixing it. They were right! Not only did yoga relieve my back pain but I also became stronger in mind and body, became more fit, and lost 10 pounds. I had to share this with everyone so I became certified through Yoga Fitas soon as I could (1999) and started teaching almost right away. Then, shortly after, I opened my own yoga studio in a small city in Indiana and I received my 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher Certification (2006). I received my license in Zumba and Zumba Toning in 2008 because the energy and the music are amazing! Now I live in Southern California where I teach Zumba and yoga classes weekly. I love teaching Zumba and love being able to dance and have fun while burning 600+ calories an hour, and yoga is a great compliment to any workout to stretch out those muscles!

Andy KitchenAndy Kitchen
All my life I have been active and moving. Soccer, biking, running, swimming, hiking. Age and life got in my way a couple of years ago, I was not in my best of shape and I need a kick in the ass. Cindy and Pedal did just that. There was something about spinning that clicked with me. I could not get enough. I went all the time. It started to get a hold of me. I lost weight (30 pounds) and got my lungs back and transformed my self into someone I wanted to be at age 44. I wanted to take the next step and set my goal to be an instructor. I was certified by Mad Dogg in Venice and started leading classes at pedal. I am passionate about Pedal and spinning and changing life styles to get into shape and stay there. I hope you will find in my class my enthusiasm for what I do and it will become infections and I can help change people to be what they would like to become. Plus I always wanted to be a DJ and I love music and I like to yell. So it works out! Come take a class and see what happens.

Lisa Lacroix

In 2001 the desire to be a stronger cyclist was my motivation to try spinning. A petite instructor named after a flower humbled me in my first class. I was passionately hooked from that point on. I got certified in 2002 and subbed my first class shortly after. Spinning has improved my cardio, facilitated a speedy recovery from 2 knee surgeries and is an integral part of weight loss and weight management. I am now a Johnny G Star 3 instructor and still very passionate about spinning and cycling. I particularly love working with beginners to make sure that their first spinning experience is safe, exhilarating, instructional and motivational. I know how important music is to your spin experience so I try use several genres of beat driven music including but not limited to rock, hip hop/urban, industrial, metal, old school dance, electronica, pop etc… Spinning also opened the door for me to a career as a personal trainer and certified Pilates instructor as well. I have been a fitness trainer now for close to a decade and I have helped athletes and non athletes alike achieve their individual fitness goals. Come get your pedal on with me. You’re going to like the way you feel!!

Hello Spinners! My name is Ali Roberts and I have been devoted to both health and fitness since high school. I truly believe that we have the responsibility to take care of our bodies. I’ve been a dancer for 13 years and also enjoy yoga, cycling, kayaking, climbing, and everything else that is both fun and keeps me healthy! I became a part of the PEDAL family last October and got completely addicted to spinning (of course!). I decided that the next step would be to start teaching others about my new-found passion so I became certified through MadDogg Athletics this past March. I love spinning because it is totally inclusive of all fitness levels. My goal is to create an environment where all feel welcome and no one leaves without a renewed confidence in their own personal fitness goals! Hope to see you in one of my classes soon!

Cecil Smith
Claremont resident Cecil Smith was first certified to teach indoor cycling nearly 10 years ago. He developed his trademark laid-back, yet intense teaching style over the years as a response to his original spin training philosophy challenge to “meld mind and body” on the bike. Cecil’s varied athletic pursuits have included speed-hiking the Grand Canyon North Rim to South Rim, summiting Mount Whitney, completing the Los Angeles Marathon, and competing in the teams division of the 24 Hours of Laguna Seca mountain bike race (on two weeks of training!). His class is geared towards all fitness levels from beginners to advanced riders.

Emily Stevenson
My passion for fitness began after my second son was born… Tired of being tired, I decided to get back in the gym and get back in shape! For me it wasn’t all about the scale but more about the ENERGY! I became a Certified Personal Trainer and started “ENERGY by Emily” Personal Training! I realized that taking time out to take care of myself paid off for everyone! If mama’s happy, everyone’s happy! I feel blessed to now be a part of the PEDAL SPIN STUDIO TEAM! SPINNING is a great way to BURN CALORIES, TONE and SHAPE, especially if you like to ROCK OUT during your workout! The PEDAL TEAM is committed to helping you reach your fitness goals and strongly believe in building a solid foundation for fitness… WE LOVE TO SEE NEW FACES! Come check out PEDAL SPIN STUDIO and LET’S DANCE ON THOSE PEDALS!

Over the last 13 years that I’ve enjoyed Spinning/Indoor Cycling, I’ve been inspired (and worked!) by amazing instructors. Because I really just LOVE TO SPIN, I became a Certified Spinning Instructor through MaddDogg Athletics and I’m thrilled to be part of the PEDAL family. My goal is to lead an energetic and fun spin class FOR YOU. Come, have a great time and an amazing workout – no matter your fitness level! As a business owner, wife, and stepmom, I appreciate how busy we all are, but I encourage you to carve a bit of time for yourself and enjoy a class (or few!) at PEDAL. My goal is that you’ll have a great time, feel motivated and inspired, and improve your health. Come join me and the PEDAL family for a SPIN! I look forward to seeing you in one of my classes at PEDAL.

I spin because of the music.  In my opinion spinning is the best form of cardio without beating up your body.  Unlike running, you can control your effort and still get a pretty good workout.  Exercise is hard for most people, so my goal is to make as FUN as possible.  The music can really get a class going and they forget about how hard I’m pushing them.

The owners of Pedal have created a fabulous atmosphere for the coaches and the students.  Everyone is welcome, from the serious cyclist to the beginners.  It’s one big cycling family!

My coolest spin moment came at South Pasadena when I was subbing the 8:00pm class.  Everyone join in with me and was bike dancing and singing along to my music.  At the end of the class the entire class all gave me an ovation.  Now that was cool!
